I hope Daryush this just a little bit better. I was unable to get rid completely of the glare, I am not very good at picture tacking. :(

I agree the penmanship is awfull, the maker of the bow as probably illiterate, no need to read and write to make a bow then......

Here's what I'm seeing:
وازنا یاشنسی

Here is it handwritten (roughly):
Image

You're right, it is just bad handwriting.

The words don't make any sense to me, and I'm not even sure how best to pronounce it (as most vowels in the Arabic script aren't marked). "vaaznaa yaa shansi" - ?

Probably the bowyer's name?

Do you know whereabouts in India it was from?

EDIT: the first set of characters after the yellow line (reading R->L) is a tricky set. I've assumed it's a "yaa," although it could just as easily be a "r*aa" (the * is unknown - the horizontal wavy line doesn't make a great deal of sense!).

Here are two other things it could be:

ر مرا
رعا

Tawfiq; Why not rotate the bow so Daryush can see the upper part of the tip?

hi Tawfiq,

something completely different: are the Yumis and Yas part of your collection, or do you practice Kyudo?

Right now there's a patch of light shining over one of the letters, and I can't quite make out some of it (it looks like either the Diwani calligraphic style, or not-so-great penmanship). Maybe a better picture might help.
sorry late, traveling. One more try with picture of the signature.........I think it is still not readable.

Hi Peter,
Yes Kyudo is where it all started with bows while living in Japan in 1972-73. But unfortunately no Dojo in Madrid just a regular archery field so I end up using any one of three Yumis just like any of other bow (quite a blasphemy, but that is the way things are).

Aside I do have an antic lacquered Yumi and arrows as you can see in the attachment.
