There is a new book: ""Sacred Archery - the forty Prophetic traditions", published by Himma Press, UK, 2005. ISBN 0-9550872-0-1.

It is a translation from Ottoman Turkish of the Mustafa Kani treatise on archery (translated by Hein, then Klopsteg) - the chapters containing religious and traditional aspects of archey. Table of content:

Introduction by Shahid A.Khan
Imperial Decree of Sultan Mahmud
Doxology
Forty Prophetic traditions (in Arabic with translations and commentaries by Katib Abdullah Efendi)
Kani's notes on Arabic
Archery Terms
Wood
Personalities (archey experts of old)
The Bows of the Prophet
Traditions, Legends & History (with rules of target shooting too)
Ottoman Turkish original text (pp 182-243)

Look at the web page www.sacred-archery.com, a very nice book worth having.

Adam,
It sounds like an interesting book, but when I went to the web site I only found adds.
