grozer biocomposite

Post by amatuccio » Tue Sep 29, 2009 10:37 am

I'm waiting for a new bow by Grozer that he call "biocomposite ". He in his site so says:

"The bows made by this technology consist of the following materials: the middle layers of wood, the inner layer of pressed horn, while the outer layer of pressed sinew plate. These two layers are glued to the wooden plate by modern glue and the glued layer gets a fibre strengthening.
Due to these biocomposite materials and the modern technology these bows are faster then the simple laminated bows. They are appreciably soft and without any resonance when drawing.
These bows give almost the same shooting experience than a hornbow and even their appearance is similar, although the biocomposite bows are flatter."

Some comments about this new system ?

 Mi friend buy one.His site says... not true. I recomended -dont buy this. If you need some of Grozer work , buy somthing from his laminated models(i shoot vith his Assirian-not bad) But this "biocomposites " are only "image-show" vith piece of horn.Heavier, than others vith no shooting advantage - and you pay 1/3 or more money than laminated bow.

bio-composite

Sorry, but it makes no sense to call it bio and to use epoxy.
Clever idea for to shorten production time, but completely wrong undertstanding of a hornbow. A hornbow is not the addition of some materials, it is a process. Just another case of faking history.
This seems to be a business idea for to make big bucks

Bio-Composite

Post by Boghadair » Mon Oct 05, 2009 1:08 pm

Hello All,
I've been lurking here for years, and found lots of useful information, thanks to all of you. I have an old Kassai Mongol(I think it's called Wolf II)
a base Grozer Chinese,a TRH Crimean-Tatar,and a Grozer Manchurian.
I Hope you all are wrong about the Bio-composites,as I already had one on order before this topic appeared! But I will certainly let you know if you are right. I've been quite happy with the TRH technology, and it seems odd for Csaba to stake his reputation on something as big as this if it's only to make money.
I find the Base Chinese to have a whole lot of hand-shock(not surprising) the TRH to be very nice with nearly no hand-shock but a little bit of stack, the Kassai to be smooth but 'mushy' at release,
and the Manchurian to be a nice compromise.

I hope to be not disappointed withe Bio-composite, but am prepared either way, thanks to your insights

Just wondering if anyone who has ordered a biocomposite received it and how do they shoot? Or if anyone owns one that can give a review?

Hey Dusan how do you like your assyrian? Can you post some pics or a video of you shooting it? I would love to see it in action.

Grozer Biocomposite Chinese

Post by Boghadair » Sat Mar 13, 2010 10:59 pm

I got it just before Christmas. very smooth draw, 33# at 28", goes up to 41# at 32". definitely less hand-shock than the old Mongolian/Chinese model. maybe not surprising,as the old model has heavier siyhas. the handle is comfortable for my hand. it seems noisy sometimes, but that may be due to the acoustics in the indoor range, and my erratic release technique, and my arrows currently are over-spined.

Biocomposite

Post by Boghadair » Sun Mar 14, 2010 5:37 pm

Also, the Chinese Biocomposite weighs 580g, and the 7 year old Grozer Mongol/Chinese 770g. The Chinese Biocomposite is 65cm long, and the Mongol/Chinese is 62.5cm.
the Mongol/Chinese draws 44-45# at 32", and the Biocomposite draws 40-41 at 32". the siyhas on both are 9" long.

So, over-all, a lighter bow,with a bit less stacking,and has less hand-shock.

Biocomposite

Post by Boghadair » Sun Mar 14, 2010 11:02 pm

Dusan,
I do have a TRH Crimean-Tatar,which I like. I got it on sale, not sure it's regular price was cheaper then the Biocomposite model. Grozer never made a TRH Mongolian/Chinese, so who knows if it would have been lighter or cheaper.

I really appreciate you folk who have the time, room, and expertise to experiment with hardware, technique, etc. because we learn from you all.
thanks,
Nick

Thank you for all your responses. I am trying to decide between a TRH and a "Biocomposite" I think price will dictate more than anything else especially hearing that the performance is similar.

JBL,
I don't know what is similar,as my Crimean-Tatar is TRH,but one can't compare it to the Chinese Biocomposite, because they are way different in size, design. one could really only compare TRH and Bio in the same style of bow. I do like my TRH, but it does actually stack more than the Chinese, although the TRH has rather less hand-shock,in part because it's much lighter, with shorter, lighter siyhas. 390g(all these weights included the standard string)

My friends wife has a TRH Crimean Tatar, which is a nice light bow. The performance differential between the TRH and the Bi-composite is far less noticeable than the glass fibre/TRH.
