Hi,
Some weeks ago, I decided to try a long draw, I mean that instead of anchoring at the mouth corner, I anchored right under my ear.
(I use a mediteranean release)
Of course, energy storage went up, and I got a flatter flight and an exciting arrow speed ... no question about that.
But my arrows kept grouping about one foot to the left of the bull-eye, at 18-20 meters.
I kept trying this during 5/6 training, about 400 arrows shot, and the left grouping remained very consistent
So I decided to go back to my shorter draw, as I didn't want to change my instinctive aiming, took me well enough time to grow it
Was my experience "logical", is it normal to shoot left when one use a long draw with a mediteranean release ?
Or am I plagued by some bad gesture or position ?
Thxs for your feed-back
... and a feed-back like "use a thumbring, you jackass" would not help me much to understand what happened, even it's the right solution !

LOL............right just use a thumb ring and you will not have this issue.
Actually you might though.......the longer draw has increased the amount of energy transferred to the arrow. Because of this you are getting a softer arrow which is why you are hitting left now.
Am I right in the fact that you are left handed? Shooting the arrow on the right side of the bow?
If you have light spined arrows you will start seeing them group to the opposite the arrow is passing the bow.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Another simple explanation is that the nock of the arrow is next to your ear which means it is to the right of its normal position for your original draw. You might be able to correct this by canting the upper limb of bow to the right.
Drawing to the ear with a Mediterranean release, even the two fingered Flemish release, was common in mediaeval times. It is natural for an instinctive archer to have an issue with changing draw lengths and anchor points.
Another thing that might have changed is the angle you are holding your head to the target. This also would change the relationship between the line of sight and the direction of the arrow.
Changing draw lengths or changing release techniques will have an effect of your aiming.

Thxs for your replies
Raven, your logic is OK but I shoot with my arrow on the left side of the bow, so in fact the longer draw/heavier poundage is probably palying in my favour ... but not enough
I agree that the different leads you gave me are all true, but I strongly suspect Bede points are the most impacting.
I will keep trying !
