Secrets of the Silk Road
On Tuesday, April 27th, 2010, at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) an exhibition will open with the title of this post. There are at least two mummies and 150 objects from Urumchi Museum to be on display. With some luck there should be a bow or two. I will keep in touch on the matter. Hopefully there will be substance to this post. Be well. Jack

Well actually I screwed up. This exhibit is currently at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California, and will not be in Houston till August of this year. I hope there is still an ATARN then!
If anyone is in the area, be sure to go by and make a report, soon.
Bede; We get all the good exhibits because the museum charges $20 to enter and splits the admission with the sponsoring country. It is just like the movie industry without all the production costs. They are selling us a peek at history. Just a business like any other. Hardly qualifies as an educational facility.
Sorry again for the mistake. Jack

Aha, probably, Stephen and I could organize an academic journey for our friends to visit Xinjiang directly.
Generally, the cost in autumn is not expensive as I know, I mean, from Europe to Xinjiang.
