Hebrew and Cannanite bows.

Post by Ray Cover » Mon Aug 22, 2005 5:59 pm

I am interested in finding out what various bows mentioned throughout the Bible would have looked like.

Bows of the Meddes/Persian, Egyptians and Assyrians I have seen examples of those both in pics and modern reproductions (although the time periods may not have been correct). But there are a lot of those cultures I can not find anything about.

Especially the Hebrews and Philistines and other Canannite peoples from Biblical times. What would an Edomite or Moabite bow have looked like?

Can anyone give me some direction on learning more about these types of bows.

Thanks,
Ray

Biblical Warfare, Yadin. Hundreds of illustrations. Double curved self bows for commoners; angular composites for the elite. -j-

Jack,

Where is the best place to get a copy of "Biblical Warfare"? Is it something Amazon would have or is there a better place to get it?

Thanks,
Ray

Ray; Go to the library. Yadin , 2 volumes, is out of print and expensive. A major library will have it or find a loaner for you. -j-

I found a book tittled Warefare in Biblical Lands by Yadin on amazon but the cheapest I could find a used copy was $94.

Going to have to wait on that one.

Are there any other more affrordable resources out there?
