I'm a beginner thumbring archer since Sept 2014. I prefer Manchu/cylindrical thumb ring as it's easy to make one from 3/4" PVC or bamboo. PVC are more reliable, bamboo will crack and break after few hundred shot using my Samick SKB 60# bow.

KEN: "Does anyone have any experience of their mariner bows?"

I have a Ming Moon 4, 60#@30" (at my draw length- Gui Shunxing optimistically marked it "69#@31"- a few lbs. over, and a good thing, too)

I also have a Saluki "Damascus", (41#@28") by Lukas Novotny.

The Mariner is almost as good as the Saluki- in fact, Gui has met & worked with Lukas on bowyery, so no surprise.

Attached are the two bows- Saluki on top, Ming beneath...
