Dangong / pellet bow clip

Post by taaigihk » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:47 am

Hi everyone. This is my first post here. Been watching this forum for some time though. :-)

I?ve found this dangong clip on the web. I?ve never seen it being used before. Just some pictures and articles, here on atarn mainly. Looks cool to me. This guy runs or teaches at a ?Shaolin? school in Kaifeng, so perhaps it is a part of some widely understood Shaolin style. I?ve read somewhere that some other styles of Chinese martial arts have this weapon within their curriculum. Like some branches of Tongbei quan, Wu (Yuxiang) taiji. Wan Laisheng?s ?Wushu huizong? has something about it as well. What interests me is if it?s alive, or just exists in form of quanpu. Enybody knows? Info on the quanpu, or dangong pu itself would be cool too... Thanks in advance :-)

Very few people can shoot the dan gong (pellet bow) now. This old gent looks quite proficient. He is not using any particular 'style': there's really only one way to do it.

An old man in Beijing is teaching dan gong. I plan to go up and study with him. He says that everything he can teach, he can teach in 15 minutes. The rest is up to practice.

I have a 'dan gong pu' in Chinese. I have not got around to translating it: it's written in a very obscure way.

I see.

Is it perhaps a man at Suojiafen district? I don?t know him, just read about someone in that area.

The 15 minute teaching program is appealing in a way ;)

Could you (sometime) put it, or a fragment on the web?

Thanks for the response.

The above links to Wan Laisheng's "Wushu huizong". Pages 169, 170, 171,
and 352-355 of the pdf are about dangong.
Just found it.
