korean horseback archers

I have seen some pics with korean horseback archers shooting with two fingers in place of thumbring.

Why they dont use the traditional korean technique?

Those archers started out as horseback stuntmen who then added archery to their skills. They were not too concerned at the outset about what technique they used.

But later they were criticized by traditionalists and now they have converted to a thumb draw.
